Celebrating Black History Month | Virtually Poetry

Join us for a special virtual poetry session celebrating Black History Month on Sunday 18th October 2-4pm.

To celebrate Black History Month, the Batley Poets are holding a Virtual Open Mic Poetry Session.

We want the session, which will also be livestreamed on YouTube, to be an opportunity to hear and share poetry from the Black Community.

‘Everyone’s a Batley Poet,’ so whether it’s your first time or fifty-first time sharing poetry, we want you to join us.

All tickets are free, so please register via our Eventbrite link if you want to share poetry or watch via the livestream.

You can also listen on the day by following the link to our live stream.

If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to message or reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram

Sunday’s are wonderfully lazy days. So we decided to add to that laziness with #ShareAPoemSunday.

The idea is simple, post a poem on Sunday mentioning @BatleyPoets and #ShareAPoemSunday to add a little poetry to everyone’s timelines.

Bards of Batley Available Online

Our first poetry book, Bards of Batley, is now available to buy online on eBay. Follow this LINK or search for ‘Bards of Batley’ on the eBay website. Remember, it’s still available to buy at Batley Library and Bagshaw Museum if you live locally.

While we don’t seem to have anything else planned at the moment we hope to think of something soon. If you have any ideas of things we should do, or already be doing, email or Contact Us.

In the meantime, click to view photos or videos from our previous events. You can find them under the media heading at any time. Subscribe to our YouTube channel, Batley Poets, to be updated as soon as we upload.
