Let Go

Sophie Patel

She walks the beach
To find her peace,
but a heavy weight keeps her at bay;
a rope around her leg attached to an Anchor.

With a deep breath she faces ahead,
and sees a bright light.
In this bright light,
she sees a reflection of her future self.
She reaches and shouts,
only to realise the future can not save her.
The laughter and happiness
she sees in front of her
is her desire in her future self.
She sits and watches the waves roll in and out,
and with each wave that rolls out she throws a stone.
Each stone contains her sorrow and fears,
when she’s done,
she stands and begins to walk.
The Anchor is released;
so light and free
she emerges with the bright light,
she saved her future self.
Just by letting go!
