The Lonely Grassland

Suleman Hadi

As abandoned as my lonely heart,
I strolled the dull autumn grass,
Along the barbed wire fence,
That cuts her vast chest apart.

The hay beneath and I, mourn,
Our battered souls, and bodies worn,
In love for Spring we both shed tears,
At dusk we scream, at dawn we scorn.

Though, we both know that Spring will come,
For a good few early, and late for some,
And yet we lament this autumn, so
We sing some songs, and drink some rum.
